Every field in the question editor can be drafted by Ivy with a single click. The Generate button (the sparkle icon) appears inside the Title, Question Content, and Example Answer fields and fills the field with AI-generated text based on what you have already entered.
Prerequisites
How to generate a field
- Open a question from the Questions list, or select New Question.
- Fill in the Title field. The generator uses the title — along with any category, difficulty, and tags you have already set — to produce relevant output. A clear, specific title produces better results.
- Click the sparkle icon (Generate with Ivy) inside the field you want to fill. You can generate Title, Question Content, and Example Answer independently.
- Ivy generates the text and fills the field. A spinner replaces the icon while the request is in flight; only one field can generate at a time.
- Review the result. Edit the field directly if you want to refine the wording.
- Select Save to save the question.
BYOK mode
When your organization is configured with its own API key (BYOK, enabled by an Org Admin in Organization Settings → AI), the Generate button calls the AI using that key instead of your credit balance. No credits are deducted.
Troubleshooting
The Generate button is not visible — AI is not enabled for your organization. Check Organization Settings → AI to confirm a credits balance or API key is configured.
The Generate button is greyed out — Your organization has no credits remaining. The tooltip shows No credits remaining. Top up from Billing, or ask your Org Admin to switch to BYOK in Organization Settings → AI.
"Failed to generate with AI" — The AI request could not be completed. Any credits reserved for the attempt are automatically returned. Try again; if the problem persists, check Organization Settings → AI.
